The park is named after the Arab scholar and philosopher “Abu Uthman Amr ibn Bahr,” known as Al-Jahez, in his honor and as a reminder of his vast knowledge. The artist Afif Bahnsou sculpted a bronze statue of Al-Jahez in 1986, capturing the details of his face and his distinctive protruding eyes.
